IMPORTANT RIPCORD SERVICE BULLETIN
July
2003
If you have a parachute manufactured between 28 November 2001 thru 15
July 2003, you need to have the ripcord pins of that parachute tested by an FAA
licensed parachute rigger, or foreign equivalent, for defects. Several ripcord
pins broke off and were discovered during routine inspection and repacks. On
parachutes without continuous closing loops this could be catastropic and cause
a total malfunction. The inspection is easy to accomplish, but your parachute
must be brought to an FAA licensed rigger, or foreign equivalent, for the
testing to be accomplished. According to the manufacturer, these tests must be
done prior to the next use of the parachute system. This Service Bulletin was
issued by Capewell Components, the manufacturer, and is numbered CW03-01.
