GOVERNMENT MEMBERS

  • DLA Aviation (Email) The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) along with its three Centers located in Richmond (DLA Aviation), Philadelphia (DLA Troop Support) and Columbus (DLA Land and Maritime) purchase the spare and reparable parts used throughout the Department of Defense. DLA Aviation is the PIA member, and is the Agency’s Aviation Supply Center purchasing parts for all the military services to include the Coast Guard as well as some Foreign Military Sales. Life Support Equipment (Federal Supply Class 1670) is handled by DLA Aviation and includes parachutes and related equipment although some fabrics may be handled through DLA Troop support. Another DLA Aviation function that is of importance to PIA is the Standardization Program Branch which is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of numerous standards including MIL-STD-849 and the adoption notices for the PIA standards.

  • Materials and Textiles Laboratory (Email) The Materials and Textiles Lab is one of its kind in the U.S. Air Force and is responsible for testing of all types of textiles that make up life support equipment such as parachutes and many other items.
